The 49th Shiobara Onsen Yummikemuri Marathon was held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, with runners taking on the course through the beautiful fresh greenery of early summer in the Shiobara Onsen area.
Once again, our company participated as a special sponsor, providing Seiko mini sports timer clocks as prizes. Our employees also supported the event as volunteer staff, assisting with operations such as managing water stations, issuing finisher certificates, and guiding runners along the course.
In addition, as a new initiative this year, we set up an exhibition booth where visitors could take commemorative photos with an actual Seiko sports timer. Approximately 250 people visited the booth, helping to create memorable experiences for event participants.

Reducing Food Waste × Contributing to the Community

In Tochigi Prefecture, it is said that approximately 30,000 tons of food loss occur annually—equivalent to about 15 kg per person. Among these, disaster preparedness supplies are frequently discarded due to expiration dates.
In response to this issue, Seiko NPC Corporation donated approximately 150 emergency food items to the certified NPO Tochigi Volunteer Network Kenpoku Office as part of its social contribution activities. This organization supports various initiatives, including the Nakacho Hohoemi Center, which provides a space for the elderly; the Smile House, a children’s cafeteria; and food distribution for people in need.
During our visit, the facility was filled with the cheerful voices of children enjoying their summer vacation. This experience made us realize how our donation brought smiles to people in the community.
Through this donation, we witnessed how the concept of “mottainai” (what a waste) can be transformed into someone’s.

Sports sponsorship

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the 48th Shiobara Onsen Yukemuri Marathon National Competition was held around Shiobara Elementary and Junior High School, running through the lush green streets of the Shiobara Onsen area. Although rain had been forecast, the day turned out to be perfect for a marathon, and participants enjoyed running at their own pace through the scenic hot spring town.
Thanks to the cooperation of the Shiobara Onsen Tourism Association and event organizers, the entire community came together to make the event a great success.
Our company proudly participated as a special sponsor for the third consecutive year, providing SEIKO sports clocks for the event. In addition, our employees volunteered to support the marathon by assisting at water stations, issuing completion certificates, and guiding runners along the course.
A total of 16 runners (including employees and their family members) and 6 volunteer staff members from our company took part in the event.

The 47th National Shiobara Onsen Yukemuri Marathon was held on May 26, 2024 (Sun) at the Shiobara Onsen town in Nasu-Shiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, with 1,280 entries.
Our company also participated as volunteer staff, issuing completion record certificates, assisting with tournament operations as a route guide, and providing SEIKO sports clocks.

Cleaning activities (Shiobara Onsen Association Clean Campaign 2024)

To coincide with the start of the spring walking season, we participated in a trash picking activity sponsored by the Shiobara Tourism Association.
Last year in 2023, the event was unfortunately canceled due to rain, but this year, despite the cloudy skies, a total of 75 people from the Hot Spring Tourism Association, hot spring inns, and nearby companies participated in the event.
Seven employees from our company participated, including one who was participating for the first time, and they walked from the Yunoka Line parking lot to the Kamishibara area, collecting combustible and non-combustible garbage from the roadside, filling 45 liter bags.

The 46th National Shiobara Onsen Yukemuri Marathon was held on May 28, 2023 (Sun) at the Shiobara Onsen town in Nasu-Shiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, with 1,149 entries.
Our company also participated as volunteer staff, issuing completion record certificates, assisting with tournament operations as a route guide, and providing SEIKO sports clocks.

Cleaning activities (Shiobara Onsen Association Clean Campaign 2022)

Shiobara Tourism Association organizes a garbage pick-up initiative every year with the catchphrase, “Let’s clean our city with our own hands!,” and we participated in this spring’s Clean Campaign. This year's event had more than 90 participants, including some from the Association, making it the largest ever, and there can be said to be a growing awareness of environmental friendliness.
Six people from our company participated, and they worked up a sweat mainly by picking up trash in the Yunoka Line parking lot and in the Kamishiobara area.

Cleanup activities around the Nasushiobara Unit

Every year, our employees pick up cigarette butts, waste paper, and other garbage around the Unit and along National Route 400 with the aim of maintaining a suitable environment for a location adjacent to Nikko National Park and contributing to the local community.
