NPC Starts Sample Shipping of SM6781BV, Quick Charge Control IC for Ni-MH/Ni-Cd Battery Assembled In Very Small Package
Nippon Precision Circuits Inc. (NPC) announces the sample shipping of the SM6781BV, a quick charge control IC in very small package for Nickel-Metal-Hydride and Nickel-Cadmium batteries.
The SM6781BV is a quick charge control IC for Nickel-Metal-Hydride (Ni-MH) and Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries. This SM6781BV enables the batteries to be charged completely by precise detection of the voltage change(-DV) when the battery is being fully charged.
The SM6781BV realizes a small, safety and high-stability quick charge battery charger with satisfactory functions such as Abnormal detection, Charger timer, LED indicator and Stand-by mode.
The SM6781BV always keeps watching over battery voltage to detect abnormal batteries, and when the abnormal voltage is detected, SM6781BV holds quick charge mode until the normal condition is restored. The SM6781BV has three selectable timer that can be set for safe charge, and shows the charge condition. When the batteries are unconnected, stand-by mode is set to reduce the current consumption less than 1uA.
The SM6781BV, with these functions, is assembled in an 8-pin VSOP package that is about half the volume of NPC's SM6780AS. This is the ideal IC for designing a small, safety and high-stability quick charge battery charger.
