Nippon Precision Circuits Inc.(NPC) announces the development and sample shipping of SM6503A, an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection diode array, available for Pb-free (lead-free) mounting.

Current electronics equipments are severely demanding the noise immunity than ever. Since the devices have been developed in miniature and high-performed, the deterioration of the noise immunity has become a trouble in many cases. Because the minute structure of devices are very sensitive to the external noises such the ESD, an efficient part to protect the devices from the effects of static damage is really needed. --- NPC's new SM6503A is it.

The SM6503A is the Diode array for ESD protection. Five circuits consisted of diode element are integrated in the ultra-small 6-pin SON (Small Outline Non-leaded) package which adopts the Sn-Ag plating available for Pb-free (lead-free) mounting. It is the most appropriate to protect the external interface circuit of portable equipment, such as the Cellular, PDA and Digital Still Camera, which requires miniaturization from ESD. The diode guarantees ±8kV ESD immunity (IEC61000-4-2, Contact Discharge) though with the low capacitance (10pF typ.). NPC will make a various assortment of this device lineup to meet the market demand.
