Nippon Precision Circuits Inc. announces the beginning of Sample shipping of the SM8144BV, good EL driver IC for Mobile IT Equipments.

NPC has developed various EL sheet driver ICs for the liquid crystal back light employed in watch, mobile phone, and portable audio equipment. This SM8144BV is the latest product in this series.

Recently, the Mobile IT equipments, such as PDA, Palm size PC or Handheld PC, are widespread all over the world and they are expected to have bigger size of display. NPC provides this small SM8144BV for driving the big size of EL sheet.

Its improved driving ability realizes the high brightness such for EL sheet up to 70cm² in size, though the SM8144BV is in package size of 8-pin VSOP that is currently employed in previous models. Alos a microcontroller interface pin (ENA) is provided, which can be used to control the EL driver ON/OFF function instead of controlling the power supply.
