Nippon Precision Circuits Inc. announces the beginning of a mass production run of the SM6780AS, a quick charge control IC for Nickel Metal Hydride and Nickel-Cadmium batteries.

The SM6780AS possesses a variety of function for safe charge, such as negative delta voltage detection, temperature detection and charging time cutoff to control the charging process in a small package. The SM6780AS monitors the voltage and the temperature change of the batteries being charged at the same time. The SM6780AS automatically switches the three charge mode according to the charge conditions. This automatical switching funcition enables the batteries to be charged quickly and completely. Also, setting the maximun charge time and the detecting abnormality function are available.

SM6780AS requires few external components to realize a high-stability quick charge battery charger.
