Nippon Precision Circuits Inc. announce the shipping of samples of the recently developed SM5050A crystal oscillator clock generator IC in response to the increasing demand for high-frequency reference clock generators.

The SM5050A features a built-in crystal oscillator circuit, allowing high-frequency oscillators to be realized by just the connection of an external crystal. There are four multiplication ratios that can be selected using 2 logic control pins: 4, 4.25, 5, and 6.25. So, for example, if a 24.8832MHz crystal is used with a 6.25 multiplication ratio, an output 155.52MHz clock is generated. Furthermore, the high-frequency output circuit employs optimized PLL circuits to ensure low output jitter.
