Nippon Precision Circuits Inc., LSI manufacturer in the Seiko Group, has developed the SM8142, a small thin low-power EL sheet driver IC designed for application in portable equipments.

The SM8142 incorporates an output circuit configuration with increased luminous efficiency, thereby enabling the power consumption to be reduced, an essential consideration in portable equipment.

The SM8142 is fabricated in 8-pin SON (Small Outline Non-leaded) packages, which reduces the mounting area to less than half of 8-pin VSOP used in the smallest of existing devices. The 8-pin SON constitutes the smallest package fabricated by NPC for EL lamp drivers.
